Leonard Cheshire Disability/UNECA conference informs debate

Leonard Cheshire Disability has produced a major report and three professional journals in the year since our joint international conference with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.

• The comprehensive conference report is now available in three formats: PDF, online, and hard copy.

Ours was the first conference to be held after the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) came into force on 3 May 2008. At that time, the Convention had been ratified by 30 countries. Now 66 countries have ratified it, making it binding law in those countries, and we are proud to have contributed to the international dialogue that supported this achievement.
