Internships are targeted towards ambitious, independent self-starters. Our placements are a professional step forward for those looking to gain some valuable experience and learn about disability in the developing world. An interest in international development and/or disability is a prerequisite. There are a number of placements available. Below are just a few examples to give you an idea of the internships we offer.

Bangkok, Thailand
Fundraising and Marketing Officer
Working at our East Asia and Pacific Regional office in Bangkok the successful candidate will assist in the development of regional fundraising strategies, capacity building in fundraising, and external links with key donors.

The job will include working visits to Japan to develop funding links. Depending on the success of the placement there may be the possibility of a permanent staff role in the future.

The applicant must be able to demonstrate a very strong interest in disability and development issues. S/he must also be highly motivated and culturally sensitive with a strong IT background and with Japanese as a mother tongue.

Philippines
Occupational Therapy Intern
This is an opportunity to work for the Philippine Council of Cheshire Homes for the Disabled (PhilCOCHED) in Quezon City, Philippines. The intern will assist the volunteer health workers and other health specialists in identifying, assessing and implementing therapeutic interventions for disabled children in sites where PhilCOCHED’s Inclusive Education programmes are running. Many of the tasks assigned to the intern will be field-based. Interns will have direct contact with the families of children with disabilities and community volunteers.

The applicant must be a qualified Occupational therapist, have excellent written and oral English language skills and good inter-personal communication. They must be able to work in an under-resourced environment as part of a small project team.
