Internship Placements

Cheshire International Internship Placements offer the chance for participants to gain professional experience in the field of disability and development.

Whether fundraising in India, designing physiotherapy interventions in The Philippines or managing an IT project in Kenya; candidates work within the Leonard Cheshire Disability organisation to improve the lives of disabled people around the world.

There are two strands of placement:

Development Project Workers
These placements are for people interested in development project work and who are looking to spend between 6-12 months working on diverse projects abroad. Examples include Monitoring and Evaluation, Fundraising, Marketing, IT Management and Education. We are currently recruiting graduates for these positions and other placements.

Therapeutic Placements
These placements are for therapists to work for 6 months in their specialist area. Current areas include Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy. We are currently recruiting UK-qualified therapists.

There are costs associated with both types of placement. These are usually between £2,000 and £3,000 and are borne by the intern. Fundraising for the internship can be fun and demonstrates commitment to international development work. We offer fundraising guidance to all successful candidates.
All funds raised by interns cover the costs of their specific placement. This is a not-for-profit internship scheme.
