Santha Kumari, a nine-year-old girl who is hearing impaired, lives with her parents in a poor village on the outskirts of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, in the South of India.
The Community Based Services team identified and referred her to a specialist and provided her with a hearing aid. She underwent auditory training and speech therapy. The team also worked with her teachers to help them improve their communication and relationship with her. Kumari’s results have impressed everyone and she is now a popular child at school.
